If you are applying for renewal (with or without interview) and do not know precisely your travel information to the United States, it is recommended before filling out the form to check the I-94 to have the precise information.
All visa procedures, regardless of the condition (first time, renewal, of legal age, minor), the same process must be applied, just, if the 6 renewal requirements without an appointment are met (mentioned above), will be , which instead of scheduling an interview in the last step, will enable the system to send additional documents to send the complete file through Canada Post.
Requirements to be able to apply for the visa process:
Valid passport
Legal status within the country (Permit, Residence, Tourist*)
*If you are a tourist, you can apply as long as you are within the first 6 months or have applied for the extension, but you must be aware that being a tourist and not having strong roots in your country (Work or Family), will complicate obtaining the visa.
Fill out the corresponding form (+18 or Minor), all data must be filled out (Follow instructions), you will be asked to upload a photograph in the same form, it can be a selfie (well lit, without shadows, light background), at the end and Click "Send", the responses will automatically arrive to your email and ours
Please take special care when filling out, if any of the "RELEVANT DATA" has spelling mistakes or other errors, it will be sufficient cause to deny the granting of the visa
If you have a negative history within the United States (Having crossed illegally, Deportation, Arrest) please send that information by private message at the end of filling out.
If you ever had a US driver's license and/or social security number, please send that information by private message at the end of filling out.
We confirm within 48 hours that we have the process ready (Account and DS-160 form)
Make the corresponding payment to the embassy (185 USD), depending on what you select in the form, the following options will be:
Transfer to our account for us to make the payment (pagos@tramitescanada.ca) 265 CAD per member
Your account username and password are provided for you to make the payment with your credit card
The payment order from Scotiabank for payment in cash is sent to your email, keep in mind that the latter may take up to 4 days for the payment to be reflected
Make the payment corresponding to service fees
If the procedure requires finding an appointment, only 50% of the total service must be left
If the procedure is renewal without an appointment, full payment for the service must be left
Once the payment has been made, we will begin to look for your appointment (on average, due to the new conditions for releasing appointments by the embassy, it can take up to 4 months), our Guarantee is to have an appointment for you within 11 months.
At this point, if you applied Renewal without an appointment, instead of looking for an appointment, you will enter an automatic virtual queue and must wait to receive an email from the embassy with the final instructions (Vancouver and Calgary take 4 to 6 days, Toronto and Ottawa can take up to 4 weeks), with this You will be able to download the corresponding final shipping documents
*This is where the Renewal without an appointment process ends.
Upon finding the appointmen within the agreed period, an email is sent with the final data (Interview instructions and documents) and the pending payment of fees will be made
The embassy has a "PREMIUM" service, which instead of picking up the visa at one of the 3 offices, it will be sent directly to any address indicated within Canada. The service costs an additional 23 cad per member, which They are not refundable if the visa is not authorized (The question comes on the form, if you are interested, consider adding the amount to the initial payment).
*Payment of fees must be left upon confirming that the process has been completed, otherwise the appointment obtained will be cancelled
*The guarantee is that if the final appointment is after 11 months of the commitment, the payment will not be left pending, consider that the competition charges from 150 USD that are paid from the beginning and do not offer support in searching for a better appointment.
For your appointment, if you do not speak English very well, you can go with a companion who speaks on your behalf (Translator)
*Update May 2024: The entrance guards no longer have a locker service, it is recommended to be accompanied so that they can keep your cell phone and belongings or show up without electronic devices or keys
Ask in surrounding areas for shelter support (Some locations offer the "Unofficial" shelter service).
On the day of your appointment, you must arrive 15 minutes before the assigned time with the following:
Original, valid passport
Original, Visa (Only if renewal with appointment applies)
Printing, Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application (DS-160)
Printing, Confirmation and Instructions page
Photograph 5 x 5 cm (US Visa format), taken in the last 6 months (London Drugs charges approximately 18 CAD and stamps with the date), without glasses, with normal clothing and hairstyle
Original, document that protects being legal within the country (Study, Work Permit, Resident Card or Passport if you are a Tourist)
If the procedure is Family (Spouses and/or children), bring a marriage certificate and birth certificates (copies)
If your travel plan includes a third party with a valid visa, it is recommended to bring a copy of that visa.

The above requirements are mandatory but not limiting, if you consider that any additional document will help in granting the visa, you should consider bringing them.
Process within the embassy:
Try to go without electronic devices, if you have them you can leave them when you enter a cabinet with external security personnel (also a few steps away there is a Starbucks that rents lockers)
At the main entrance they will check that you have complete documents and confirm that you have the appointment at that scheduled time
It will go through the first filter where they will do a general scan (airport entrance type)
You will line up at the first window where you will fill out your registration and confirm complete documentation
At the second window they will take your fingerprints
You will take the elevator to the floor where the Interview staff is.
In the interview they will always ask the following 3 questions (Remember to be confident, direct and concise), it depends on your way of answering if there will be more questions (interviewers will give more validity to non-verbal language and answers than to the documents you may carry ), remember that the information you respond must match what is stated in the DS-160 form:
What plans do you have in my country?
What are you doing in Canada?
What is your source of income?
The immigration staff needs to see that you have stability (rootedness) in a country, so you will not have the intention of staying illegally or longer than stated in the vacation plan (This can be family, children, business, school, work , etc)
The person interviewing at that moment will give you the result, with two options:
"Your visa is approved, it will arrive with your passport in 5 days" (they retain your passport)
"We consider that at this time you are not a candidate for the visa" (the passport, the photo and the documents that would have been provided are returned to you)
You leave the offices, and if authorized, you must wait for an email from the Embassy where they will inform you that the document is ready to be picked up at the assigned office (it takes 2 to 5 business days), the office address appears in the instructions at the bottom "Document Return" (Check last step of Collect Visa in this section).
*This point also applies to the processing of minors under 14 years of age, when the mother or father has a visa (of the same type b1/b2 tourism)
